Physical Characteristics of Caterpillar
- Describe the size of the caterpillar. Compare it to something of similar size or measure
it.

- What does the caterpillar feel like?

- Describe the color of the chrysalis.

- Describe the shape.
- Describe the size of the chrysalis. Compare it to something of similar size.
- Can you see any body parts? Describe them.
- How has the chrysalis changed since the last time you observed it?

Butterfly
- Describe the size of the butterfly. Compare it to something that has a similar size.
- Describe its color and pattern.
- Compare the caterpillar and butterfly by listing similarities and differences. Are their
legs different? Are their eyes different? Do they both have a head? How are the mouthparts
different? Do they have the same number of legs?
- What does it feel like when the butterfly holds on to your finger with its feet?
- Describe the antennae.
- How does the butterfly eat? Can you see its proboscis?
- Is your butterfly a male or female? How can you tell?
